Discipleship Night

September 6th - November 15th, 2017

$0 - $25

Martin Luther once wrote: "This life, therefore, is not righteousness but growth in righteousness, not health but healing, not being but becoming, not rest but exercise; we are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it; the process is not yet finished, but it is going on; this is not the end, but it is the road; all does not yet gleam with glory, but all is being purified.” The conviction that we all need to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, no matter where we are on our journey of faith, undergirds Discipleship Night at NPC. Discipleship Night classes cover a range of topics, but are all focused on growing in grace by knowing and loving God, understanding and applying his word, and grasping principles for living in his world as his people for his glory.

ADULT EDUCATION CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

"A Life of Truth" led by Tighe Farrow ***

In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we’ll look closely at the Reformation principle that Scripture alone is the rule of faith and life - Sola Scriptura. We will explore questions such as: What is truth? How do I know the Bible is the word of God? How do I know what the Bible says is true? How did we get our Bible? Is the Bible still relevant today, two thousand years after it was written? How do I apply the Bible to my life today? And what is a biblical world view? Come join us as we study Scripture, and learn how to integrate God's word into our lives by constructing a Christian worldview that will help us all to live a life of truth.

"Faith in the Digital Age" Led by Davy Chu ***

We live in a world in which technological advances have radically shaped virtually every area of our lives—from the Fitbit on your wrist, the phone in your pocket, and the credit card in your purse to email, the internet, and TV (or your streaming video service). If so, the question isn’t whether technology affects our faith, but how it does. In this class, we’ll explore the impact of technology on our faith. Join us as we look at the interplay of our faith with things like social media, the internet, smartphones, and learn how to live faithfully in our brave new technological world.

Discover NPC ***

We want to be a church where people can thrive and experience authentic relationships. During this 4-week class we'll get to know each other better and talk about who we are and what we believe. Discover NPC is a prerequisite for membership at NPC. Whether you're ready for that step or not, this class is a way to help you explore and see what we're about. Class dates: Sept 6, Sept 13, Sept 20, & Sept 27, 2017.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

GRACE: A Bible Study on Ephesians for Women

In the book of Ephesians, Paul reminds us that Jesus longs for the day that he will be united with the church - his bride in all her beauty. Paul's letter celebrates the beauty of the church. Ephesians gives us wonderful examples and basic overviews of a Christian life. Paul shows us how to walk worthy of Christ as we live our life for God. This study will expound Paul's theme of uniting all things in Christ by uniting his church and breaking down all that separates us from God, one ethnic group from another, husband from wife, parent from child, master from slave. This study is for all who want to build the church into the new society God has planned it to be.

*** Childcare is available for parents attending Adult Education and Women's Bible Study. Preregistration is required before August 27***
